"Williamson County Mayor Rogers Anderson has issued an executive order declaring a public health emergency and requiring county residents to wear face coverings in public to prevent the spread of COVID-19. (Beginning July 8th and ending August 3rd.)
According to the order, businesses and facilities are also required to post signage at public entrances informing patrons of the requirement, and to enforce it.
Anderson attributed much of the decision to his concern for the health and safety of the public and to prevent the spread of COVID-19 so that schools can open safely in August.
According to a news release on Monday, Anderson consulted with the county’s six mayors and Williamson County superintendents Jason Golden and David Snowden, drawing a consensus before making the decision...."

"...We don’t have a lot of tactics to try — if we don’t try some things, we might end up not having a choice of staying open,” Napier said.
“If we don’t do this, and we don’t start to see the data take a turn for the better, we could see the schools not open in the fall. It won’t take but a few of those cases possibly to shut schools down once and for all, so we’re running out of time before the new school year starts.”
“All we’re simply asking is wear a mask when you go out in public. I don’t think that’s a lot to ask people to do. Let’s try it, let’s see if it works. If we can do our part to protect one another by simply wearing a mask, it’s not much an inconvenience at all to ask people to do that if they’re in close proximity to other folks....”
