The November election is fast approaching, but the deadline for voter registration is approaching even faster.

With this year’s election determining not only who will fill the presidential office but also other federal, state and local seats, voters have their work cut out for them. The Williamson Herald has compiled everything Williamson County residents need to know in order to register to vote, including who will be on November’s ballot and links to each candidate’s campaign sites.

Additionally, the McLemore House and Limestone Church in Franklin have planned a voter registration drive for Saturday, Sept. 12, in collaboration with Limestone Baptist Church in Franklin.

The drive will take place at the McLemore House (446 11th Ave. N in Franklin) on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. and will provide voting information and help eligible voters register or re-register for the upcoming election on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Hot dogs and water will also be available onsite.

When do I need to register?

For those who have never voted in Williamson County or need to update their voter registration for any reason, the deadline for the Nov. 3 election is Monday, Oct. 5.

While Tennessee voter registrations do not expire, there are a handful of reasons the election commission may purge a voter from the system, according to the Tennessee Secretary of State.

Residents who have moved to a new county or have not voted within the past several years should check the status of their registration with the Williamson County Election Commission by calling 615-790-5711 or visiting the office in the Williamson County Administrative Complex on West Main Street in Franklin.

What do I need in order to register?

In order to register to vote in Williamson County, voters must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the county and have a social security number. Additionally, voters must be at least 18 years old before the date of the next election.

Citizens can register online, by mail or in person at the election commission office. While residents do not need a federal or state-issued ID to register, an ID is required to vote.

While Election Day takes place on Nov. 3, early voting begins on Wednesday, Oct. 14 and runs through Thursday, Oct. 29. Registered voters do not need any additional registration to vote early.

Where will I vote?

When the time comes to cast a ballot, registered voters in Williamson County have several options.

Residents wanting to vote early can do so in person at any of eight different locations throughout Williamson County, including four in Franklin and one each in Brentwood, Fairview, Nolensville and Spring Hill.

Additionally, some residents have the option to vote by mail, including those who are 60 years old or older, those who will be outside their county of residence during early voting and election day, those with an illness or disability that prevents them from visiting their polling place, and more. The online form to request an absentee by-mail ballot can be found at GoVoteTN.com.

Those who have never voted in person in Williamson County and registered to vote either online or by mail must vote in person before they are eligible for by-mail voting.

On Election Day, residents can choose from 25 different vote centers throughout the county, regardless of where in the county they live.

Who’s on the ballot?

On Nov. 3, all Williamson County residents will vote for a president and vice president, a U.S. Senator to replace Sen. Lamar Alexander, a U.S. House of Representatives member for District 7, and a state House of Representatives member for one of three districts depending on a voter’s residence.

Additionally, Fairview residents will choose three city commissioners, and Thompson’s Station residents will choose two city aldermen.
